Unknown to Google in September. Recommended by AI in October.
A New York City company that sells to corporate buyers came to Growthr with a site Google had only half discovered, including the pricing page and the inquiry form, and no AI answer that named it. One SEO & GEO Boost later, both have changed. Every number below is from Search Console, GA4, and the engines themselves, same 28-day windows before and after. The client is anonymized at its request.
A strong business the engines could not read.
Public pricing, a five-star Google rating, named corporate clients in the portfolio. The site was fine for a human buyer. For a crawler and for an AI answer it barely existed.
Half invisible to Google
Nearly half the site's pages had never been discovered, including the two that turn a visitor into an inquiry. No sitemap had ever been submitted, and old addresses redirected through the insecure http version.
Absent from AI answers
In September the company appeared in none of seven category answers across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google. ChatGPT shortlisted it once and named the limiter itself: too few reviews, most of them reproduced on the site.
A site that said little about itself
Descriptions missing on most pages, the company name twice in every title, three separate pieces of business code describing three different businesses, and no file telling AI tools who it is.
Four weeks of fixes, shipped by us.
Boost is an audit plus the implementation. The client shared collaborator access and a Google Business Profile invite; the rest was ours, tracked in a client portal with the short list only they could do.
Audit and plan
Eight-dimension audit, composite 44 of 100. A plan page, a to-do list in the client's voice with paste-ready text, and an "our work" page so nobody had to ask where things stood.
Technical repairs
Sitemap submitted September 24 and read by Google the same day. Permanent redirects straight to the secure page. Titles rewritten, descriptions written for every page, the undiscovered pages requested for indexing.
Schema and the machine layer
One business record on every page, FAQ markup on the FAQ and pricing pages, an llms.txt with a "when to use" section, and the contact link on the Google listing pointed at the secure inquiry form.
Off-site presence
Twelve profiles set up or corrected on the directories AI answers cite for the category, then fifteen of them linked from the site's business code. The Google listing's service list trimmed to the work the company does, a description written naming its clients and venues, and review requests that grew the five-star review count by 20%.
Before and after, same 28-day windows.
August 4 to 31 against September 29 to October 26, the four weeks after the fixes landed. Absolute counts are withheld at the client's request; every change below is the real ratio.
- Pages unknown to Google: nearly half, now none. Indexed pages up 50%, all with Google choosing the intended canonical.
- Average Google position: 26.3, now 6.6. Click-through from Google up 81% (3.2% to 5.8%).
- Organic search sessions: up 96%. Key events across all channels: 6×.
- Recovered pages being shown: the inquiry form, pricing, and two service pages went from zero impressions to showing for buyer searches, with the pricing page at position 2 to 3 for the category's pricing query.
- AI answers: recommended in 0 of 7 category answers in September. On October 28, Google's AI Overview and ChatGPT both put the company first for a borough-level category query, ChatGPT lists it second for a second category query, and the brand query is cited and recommended on Google.
- Audit score: 44, now 58. Crawl and indexability 55 to 85, schema 48 to 68, machine layer 5 to 65.
What has not moved yet, stated plainly: clicks from Google are flat across the two windows, the head-term queries still go to the incumbents, and the Maps grid for the head term is 0 of 9. Search results usually take 60 to 90 days to respond. The next measurement is late November, and the levers now are reviews, the certifications that ChatGPT names as the reason it ranks a competitor first, and a facts page.
What one Boost moved in six weeks.
Search Console, GA4, Google Business Profile, and the engines, re-pulled on October 28.
$1,499, one time. The call credits into it, and Manage at $199 a month is optional. The off-site program (reviews, directories, certifications) is scoped as its own line because it is ongoing work, and it is the half that decides whether an AI answer recommends a company.
